Non-Specific Object Six?

Non-Specific Object Six? (2018)

Solid acrylic slab, incised drawing, pigmented epoxy, 47 x 47 x 5 inches

This artwork combines drawing with multiple machining processes. Mansur creates a drawing with tape, building strokes that, unlike pencil drawings, do not bear the memory of an erased line. The composition is carved into a solid acrylic slab and filled with pigmented epoxy. Mansur exposes layers by excavating into the slab, creating steppes that are visible upon closer inspection. Shadows of invisible lines are cast on the wall, as the artwork's incline creates optical effects.
